The night of 6 plays(2)...
....back from the 'more then one day' interlude....without furthe delay...
The BoxThis play has its settings on a shelf, with the 5 charecters being toys...the confused yet determind Jack-in-a-box, the incredibly strict queen from a chess set, the happy-go-lucky puppet, an abandoned pessimistic old doll and lastly..a 2 day old ballerina....a note to take is that they are all arranged in a straight line along the shelf with jack ont the left and everything else towards the right as the order given..ok..the play starts, and jack wants to meet the ballerina..but the obviou problem is how confined he is in tt box...nevertheless, he somehow hopped and hopped and met the queen....the queen was, naturally very unahppy, being one who believes strongly in structure, in the order and peace it provides..here, jack got a lecture on how structure maintains order, by providing specific guidelines for one to follow, although she is a bit fed up protecting a weakling..^^...she also says that structure should never be forgone by happiness as it will only bring about chaos...but that does not deter jack (it's so weird saying my own name over and over again...but anyway..) and he moves on..and he meets the puppet...the puppet was different...who felt that happiness was most importent..she tells tales of how she has already explored the whole of Missus room and how she had been save by Missus..and here she takes for granted the fact that she will always be safe, and will be so even if she forgoes the structure...encouraged, jack moves on (HoPPed) and meets the doll...who sat in its path, refusing to move..the doll was Missus' toy when she was a baby, but as she grew, he got abandoned, leaving him on the shelf to literally fall apart..he starts talking about how he was safe in a structure, how protected he was and how
dependant he was on that structure...jack on the other hand decided to press on and in his violent attempts to dislodge from the box, he fell over...this sparked an argument b/w all the toys, except the ballerina...who sang and shut everyone up...lol...while this was going on, jack got himself busy unscrewing(sounds wrong...so WRONG!!) himself from the box..the play ends with him getting outta the box and offering his hand to the ballerina...what this play is probably about is the constant struggle we have to face when choosing to conform to both structure and the nedd to search for own happiness..do we realy have to live in the way others dictate us to? or do we break free and find our own ways of living?...
Sixty degreeshonestly?...i didn't like this...very superficial and boring...jus one with lots of bangs and swearings...
A very serious playdo not be tricked by this title..there is no attempt at sarcasm, and it was very very serious...to me...it would be the most profound play of all...this one touches on the sensitive issue of religion..when it begins...a recording of a prayer is played..and when it ends, a beam of light shown down on centre stage, lighting up a group of 5, laughing...one by one, they break from the group, muttering "day afer day"....then they started walkin...some with confidence, some with fear..perhaps it show how religion can affect all walks of life?...they then move into different postures, showing fear, despair, enlightement and so on..perhaps religion brings all that?..or does that bring more meaning to religion?...next..all charecters stand and started uttering 'day after day' repeatedly, with one actor muttering very very quickly about the life of a man...does this show how religion can affect one and their choices in their everyday lives?...this scene ends and is replaced by 3 charecters, a devouant soul, a non-believer, and a confused one...much was said b/w the 3 and it ended, with the confuse done laughing, walking away...and the devouant soul and the non-believer picking up a chain of beads and a handphone respectively..the struggle that technology and religion has?...the next scene...2 prisoners, taken into custody..both claiming that their deeds were done in the name of a higher power....so should them be forgiven?...much is really addressed within this short span...and i'm still thinking thru...i'll get back when i have something ya?...
there is only so much one can do....get the most done and don't turn back...
